It's a cold game in December and I can't help but feel the warmth of a sunny beach in the middle of the summer. As we talk about our family vacation rather than watching our team give up another interception.

Do you remember when we walked the beach at night? Guided by the lights of our flashlights. The long hot days spent poolside, it wouldn't be worth anything without our family by our side. But I can't think of a summer being fun without our family under the sun.

Searching for shells on the warm sandy beach. Making sure they have a hole in them so we thread a needle in each. To make it a souvenir we can never forget, a piece of the beach we can wear in the cold and grey skies of Ohio. Mom would never jump into the pool, so we'd have to bring it to her. She didn't want to get her hair wet so bellyflops were the safest bet. How the man fit through a kids inner tube is an anomaly I'll never figure out. These memories of the beach I'll never forget, there's no doubt. To the synchronized swimming to the late nights singing, this will be a place we can call home for the first week of August for eternity.

I don't know when we'll go back. Our schedules have seemed to go off track. But I can't help think about the long walks where we could talk about anything.
